Marius Gerdes
M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
Marius Gerdes most recently completed his M. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at the KIT Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. He gained experience abroad early on through a nine-year stay in Norway. He decided to return to Germany for his mechanical engineering studies. During this time, he became intensively involved with additive manufacturing. He had the opportunity to learn about the chances and risks for start-ups during his work as a student trainee at the start-up Apium Additive Technologies GmbH. Here he was involved in research and development of hardware and software. He also worked for the company as a consultant at home and abroad. With his Master’s thesis, he shifted his focus to neurology and related medical technologies. In this context, he developed a patented concept for EEG electrodes from the idea to the application.
Dr.-Ing. Simon Stock
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
Simon Stock accomplished his PhD at KIT-ITIV under supervision of Prof. Stork in the field of AI-supported medical technology using brain-computer interfaces. He started a research collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before that, he specialised in Systems Engineering (M.Sc.) at KIT in the field of electrical engineering. During his studies, he received the Microsoft Studentpartner Scholarship due to his outstanding qualifications in the IT field and was active as a Microsoft Campus Expert. He also published numerous apps for the Microsoft platform. He developed his enthusiasm for start-ups both during his master’s thesis in the San Francisco Bay Area at Zeiss and during his successful participation in international hackathons. In 2020, he was awarded the prestigious faculty teaching prize for the “Laboratory for Applied Machine Learning Algorithms” for his teaching activities.
Dr.-Ing. Markus Schinle
Ph.D. in Information Systems and Engineering
Markus Schinle has an excellent academic record. His studies focused on the development of information systems, technology management and entrepreneurship and led to a M. Sc. degree in Information Engineering and Management at KIT in 2015 with stays abroad at TEI Larissa (Greece) and ETH Zurich (Switzerland). In addition to a private sector scholarship from a consultancy in finance, he was awarded twice during his studies by receiving the Deutschlandstipendium (2011/2013) and by being accepted into the SAP FastTrack Program. During his PhD, he was a participant of the Software Campus 2018 Program. Besides practical experience at a management consultancy, he can boast the Certified Project Management Associate (IPMA Level D) certification. Markus did his PhD at the KIT-KSRI and KIT-ITIV under supervision of Prof. Nickel as well as Prof. Stork in the field of data-driven development of medical software applications in neuropsychology.
